The National Trend to Eliminate Greek Life

How To Destroy Fraternities and Sororities #101

"Courses Of Study" was circulated at colleges and universities throughout the northeastern United States in 1992.

DOES THE ABOVE RING A BELL AT COLGATE?

Those interested in the elimination of fraternities and sororities from the college scene in America should enroll in this course and learn how to, over a twelve year period, destroy Greek letter societies on your campus. The following is an outline of procedures taught and is sure to find success.

  1. Have schools hire inexperienced, incompetent, disinterested supervisory
    personnel
  2. Enact rules and regulations which cannot be followed
  3. Enact conflicting rules and regulations to confuse rules and regulations
  4. Show no leadership from supervisory personnel
  5. Delay discipline
  6. Institute a catch and punish philosophy — give students enough rope to hang
    themselves
  7. Use punishment instead of discipline
  8. Use selective punishment to eliminate individual fraternities and sororities.
  9. Do not allow punishment to fit the crime
  10. Blame the group for individual behavior
  11. Force economic strangulation at every opportunity
  12. Close houses instead of instituting educational discipline
  13. Have radical faculty members speak out against fraternities and sororities in public and in faculty meetings to the point where students are afraid to wear Greek letter insignia to class
  14. Have radical faculty members and department chairs advise new faculty members that if they spend time or help fraternities in any way they will have no chance of tenure
  15. Have the college lend enough money to fraternities and sororities in order to bankrupt them and steal their property
  16. Accuse fraternities and sororities (fall the popular buzzword offenses particularly if they are not guilty so as to destroy their image to all members of the college community
  17. Force heavy expenditures by requiring unnecessary and very expensive building code renovations
  18. After renovations have been completed come up with additional code requirements forcing new expenditures
  19. Invade the constitutional rights of members at every opportunity
  20. Enact open membership requirements to force members on fraternities and sororities
  21. Load every expense possible on fraternities and sororities
  22. Delay rush as long as possible preferably to late during the sophomore year
  23. Allow no pledge period whatsoever
  24. Allow no distinction between seniors, juniors and sophomores within a fraternity or sorority
  25. Do not allow sophomores to live in the fraternity or sorority houses. If the above outline is followed you can be assured that one Greek letter organization at a time will bite the dust and the eventually if no one joins, there will be no system in about twelve years, You must have a plan, know how, when and where to exert pressure and be patient.
