Expectations of the Fraternity/Sorority
Community:
- Live the ideals of your Founders, through everything
that you do for the rest of your life.
- Demonstrate that being a member of your chapter is a
lifelong commitment. As an alumnus (alumnae) remember to help your undergraduates
live up to the ideals of your Founders. Show this through example, not
words alone.
- Show the meaning of your ritual through your interactions
with each other and the community. (Don't give away your secrets, just
demonstrate what makes your chapter the organization that it is) Show
why you truly pledged yourself to this group.
- Know where you've been and where you're going. Always
begin each journey in life with the end in mind. If you don't know where
you're going, how can you create steps to get there?
- Be able to look at yourself in the mirror and say that
you're proud of your actions
- Learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others.
- Use your inter (national) policies as the guide to your
activities. If your inter (national) doesn't allow a certain activity
or practice, there's a reason.
Fraternity is understanding,
it is recognition,
it is a joining with men in common enterprises.
It is a willingness to share and participate.
It is discipline,
it is selflessness,
it is these things and many more.
It is above all an attitude.
